Available in French since 2001 as the Outil d'analyse de compétence, the first English Skills Assessment group activity took place in the autumn of 2004.

The Skills Assessment Tool (SAT) is a modular approach to competency identification developed by the employment team at CDEC CDN/NDG. The SAT targets persons wanting to validate their job objective, inform themselves on the characteristics of specific jobs, determine their transferable and professional skills, identify barriers to attaining job objectives, and/or plan the steps necessary to accomplish job objectives over the short-, medium-, and long-term.

The Skills Assessment is offered in a group format: a five-day intensive session followed by a one-day debriefing enables participants to increase their awareness of their professional abilities, determine the major elements of a successful strategy to penetrate the labour market, and establish an action plan to attain their goal.
